10 keys to overcome the emotional epidemic

-

What can we do in these times of affective turbulence? A lot of solidarity, caring and caring for ourselves, not getting used to emotional distance. And take the opportunity to learn from all of the lessons that this crisis brought us.

Luckily, positive and binding emotions are just as contagious as fear, we review everything we can do each and every one to overcome these times of affective turbulence.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO OVERCOME THE EMOTIONAL EPIDEMIC OF THE CORONAVIRUS?

1. ENCOURAGE SOLIDARITY AND RESPONSIBILITY, AS A GROUP, AND AVOID PERSONAL ISOLATION

This is a good time to reflect on how important it is to be part of a group, a social network, a family, or other identities. As soon as the crisis is over, or even sooner, think about how to improve those linkages.

2. BET ON THE PROTECTION OFFERED BY HEALTHCARE AND PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AND EXCHANGE SERVICES THAT ARE SOCIAL

That vision of “my family and my home are my impregnable fortress” is of little use. Work on its development and regulation. For example, teleworking will now develop more and more, which can mean greater autonomy of management and thought.

3. TAKE CARE OF OUR CAREGIVERS: DO NOT MAKE NON-URGENT OR UNNECESSARY CONSULTATIONS

Checking over and over again or at the slightest discomfort or symptom on health telephones and / or health services hinders their function. There are public and easily accessible lists of the fundamental symptoms of this epidemic, both on the computerized network and in newspapers and in health centers. Read them and learn them. And if you have any doubts, find out who can help you among your family and friends (by phone or remotely). Remember that we have a European and national treasure: an efficient public health that must be taken care of.

4. KNOW, FOLLOW AND ADVISE THE HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS OF EXPERTS

Thanks to their training, to the fact that they have dedicated thousands or millions of hours to the subject, it is necessary to give value to the experts; although there are always those who believe they know more than they do.

5. GROOMING AND DRESSING EVERY DAY, NOT ABANDONING YOURSELF IN THESE ASPECTS

Make a daily and weekly schedule and stick to it. Include moments of communication with the family through computerized social networks. You can watch films and videos of laughter (and other types), share board games, sports, outdoor activities and nature – if the situation allows it. At least every two hours, do physical exercises according to a program, there are many on the Internet.

6. TAKE ADVANTAGE TO LOWER THE RHYTHM OF LIFE AND CONSUMPTION

It is a good time to remember that a third of Spanish children are poorly fed, 13% go hungry, there are thousands of people sleeping on the streets, there are hundreds of thousands of people with housing difficulties and serious relational disorders at home, millions of people with a precarious job. How important are social services in a state of solidarity ! Help reflects on the topic. How can I help keep them running?

7. GOOD TIME TO “FIND OUT THAT OUR CHILDREN EXIST AND GET TO KNOW THEM BETTER”

Often, we delegate too much to school, to tutors and centers for extracurricular activities, sports, games and summer, to teacher. What we are missing! It can be used to see how to “build the world in a better way”.

8. WE DO NOT GET USED TO SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DISTANCES

Now that it frustrates us not to kiss, hug, caress, be kissed, hugged, caressed, let’s appreciate what that means. We are Mediterranean peoples and, together with the South Americans, Africans and some others, we have that advantage. It should not be lost in the future. And today we can collaborate with citizen initiatives based on attachment-solidarity and joy (humor) : through the networks, through the windows (such as the movement “Together with Italy”, “Support for health workers” and the like.

9. LET YOURSELF BE CARRIED AWAY BY THE INTEREST OF SOLIDARITY KNOWLEDGE AND INQUIRY

It is a good time to rethink the world and move towards radical environmentalism and humanism. Also, to rethink everyday consumerism and see how to have “more time with the children” and more time for other activities and perspectives of solidarity, recreation and joy.

10. THE VALUATION OF FORMAL AND EVERYDAY DEMOCRACY

It is Europe’s fundamental contribution to the world: at the service of the majority and with respect and cultivation of critical minorities and differences . The combination of democracy and states of solidarity, at the service of those most in need, is another of the characteristic European contributions. Our way out of the crisis must be based on these premises.
